YOLANDA’S HANDS IN UNITY

Founded in 2008 by

Yolanda Gardner

Most violent and property crimes in the U.S. are not reported to police, and most of the crimes that are reported are not solved.

Yolanda’s Hands in Unity is a nonprofit organization established in 2008 with a steadfast commitment to supporting victims of violence across the state of Texas. Named in honor of Yolanda, a courageous survivor who turned her pain into a mission of hope and healing, our organization is dedicated to providing comprehensive services, advocacy, and resources to empower individuals affected by violence to rebuild their lives and find strength in unity.

At Yolanda’s Hands in Unity, we understand the profound impact that violence can have on individuals and communities. Our experienced team of compassionate professionals and volunteers work tirelessly to create a safe and welcoming space where survivors can access the support they need to heal, recover, and thrive.

Through our range of programs and initiatives, we offer crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy, support groups, and educational resources tailored to meet the diverse needs of survivors. Additionally, we collaborate with community partners to raise awareness about the prevalence of violence, promote prevention efforts, and advocate for policies that support survivors’ rights and well-being.

Join us in honoring Yolanda’s legacy and our shared commitment to creating a Texas where all individuals can live free from violence, where survivors are supported and empowered to rebuild their lives with unity and compassion. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and build a more resilient and inclusive society for all.

WE CARE

We take the knowledge we learn from survivors and from current research out into the community. We work with a wide range of schools, campuses, community groups, and organizations. These include middle and high schools, colleges, police, health-care providers, businesses, and more. We advocate for change and work with them to help them understand their role in making their environment safe and preventing this from happening or putting an end to it. We do this by offering training, on topics such as how to respond to survivor's disclosures. We provide concrete tools and technical assistance to help create policies and practices that implement programs to help our clients. Our response and prevention programs are based on research and more than 23 years of experience with this subject from the founder.
